alt
We all dread the day when we would come across the first wrinkle on our face.Growing old is an inevitable fact that we'll have to accept one day or the other.
However, instead of simply sitting and waiting for the wrinkles to come, we can indulge ourselves in some fantastic foods that help slow down the aging process. Here are the top 5 anti-aging foods that you should start gorging on.

5. Avocado

For people who don't enjoy eating vegetables, salmon is the perfect choice owing to the great quality protein it contains. It is also rich in omega-3 fatty acids which make the skin healthy. For optimum results, it is advised to include salmon into your diet at least thrice a week.

3. Broccoli

Broccoli belongs to the family of cruciferous vegetables which are famous for assisting the body in fighting against toxins. Broccoli also contains quercetin and isothiocyanates which are known antioxidants. Reportedly, broccoli sprouts contain more isothiocyanates than the vegetable itself.

Avocado Olive Dip

So last night I posted a pic of my Avocado Olive Dip, and was kindly asked to include the recipe. So here goes. Before I show you the recipe, I wanted to show you my other forms of avocado feasting.

LEMON AVOCADO
Before I get stated, I wanted to show you my personal favorite & traditional way of eating an avocado. This method simply consists of an Avocado cut in half, pit removed and sliced in a grid like form. On the side, a good squeeze of lemon, and a mashed up garlic clove with a pinch of salt. Pour the lemon-garlic mix into the avocado, stir & eat.

AVOCADO & OLIVES
Then there's the inspiration to this recipe. A staple at the dinner table after our meal, we include the avocado and the olive. I prefer a spoon, my family members prefer a "La'meh" of pita bread (when the pita bread is used as a scoop to hold food). The lemon-garlic mix can be excluded here & it still tastes amazing

Finally off the the recipe:

AVOCADO OLIVE DIP

  • 1 Avocado cubed
  • ½ Lime or Lemon squeezed
  • 1 clove of garlic mashed
  • 1/2 tomato cubed
  • 5 olives pitted & cubed
  • pinch of salt
You can also add
  • ½ tsp cumin ground
  • ¼ tsp coriander ground
  • ¼ tsp fresh hot peppers

Spicy is the New Hot!! - Avocado Cayenne Dip

Avocado Cayenne Dip

I love avocados!!  They taste amazing, they're easy to prepare, and even with minimal ingredient, they have a wonderful flavor. This Avocado Cayenne Dip needs:
  • 2 Avocados cut in small pieces
  • ½ Lime - juiced
  • 2 tsp homemade Cayenne Pepper paste
  • 2 drops Scotch Bonnet hot sauce (for extra spice)
  • ½ tsp Black pepper ground
  • pinch of salt
All you need now are crackers or chips or bread.

My all time favorite & Quick Avocado recipe is slicing the Avocado in half, removing the pit. Using a knife, slice the flesh of the avocado in a grid shape (making sure to keep the outer layer in tact - it'll be your bowl). On the side prepare a sauce consisting of, Juice of ¼ or ½ a lemon, (up to) a clove of garlic, and a little sprinkle of salt. Pour the sauce over the avocado flesh and mix it in.  The spoon is the last thing you'll need before you can start enjoying!!
